As presented at the Prairie Lightning Symposium, September 30, 2012

Sallie Greenberg, Assistant Director, Advanced Energy Technology Initiative, discusses increases in global energy demands and the need to stabilize CO2 emissions. Dr. Greenberg looks at Illinois geology and the unique properties that make it suitable for long term CO2 storage. The Illinois Basin - Decatur Project is highlighted in demonstrating the viability of carbon capture and storage, which to date has stored more than 700,000 tonnes of CO2.
